A great conflagration destroyed Kumbasari traditional market yesterday morning 5/2/2007. Two hundreds shops were burned in this conflagration due to the slow action of Denpasar fire squad. The fire started to burn the market at 07:15 A.M. and took 11 hours to control the fire. Even at 9 P.M the fire was still inextinguishable completely.

According to Bali Post, the fire came from D’Armi Artshop on the third floor of this market. Lack of resources in the side of Denpasar fire squad and shortage of fire extinguisher equipment in this traditional market slowed down the immediate action of extinguishing the fire.
