Nyepi Day is a day of reflection, when all residents both Hindu and non-Hindu alike, respect the rules of silence which mark the Hindu New Year.
Nyepi Day, according to the Balinese calendar, falls on MON 19 March 2007. It is a day of absolute quiet throughout the island and all traffic is banned from the streets for the 24 hour commemorative period from 6 a.m. Monday 19 March 2007, continuing until 6 a.m. the following morning. As a result, passengers will not be able to arrive or depart from Denpasar Airport.
Therefore Garuda Indonesia is obliged to cancel the following flights: GA714 SUN 18MAR07 DPS MEL SYD GA715 MON 19MAR07 MEL SYD DPS GA726 MON 19MAR07 DPS PER GA727 MON 19MAR07 PER DPS GA710 MON 19MAR07 DPS DRW GA711 MON 19MAR07 DRW DPS Flights between DPS and the following ports will also be affected on 19MAR07: NRT / ICN / CGK / SUB / JOG / UPG / SIN. To ensure passengers are not inconvenienced by the cancelled flights, Garuda Indonesia will provide options for passengers to choose travel on other dates.
