More than 1,500 guests, including VIPs, attended a gala dinner for the launch of a cultural exchange programme between Malaysia and Indonesia, known as “Titian Budaya”, at the Plenary Hall of the Jakarta Convention Centre (JCC) here Saturday night.
Also present were Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, his Indonesian counterpart, Jusuf Kalla, Malaysian Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim and his Indonesian counterpart, Ir Jero Wacik, and their wives.
Malaysian Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, who is in the republic to promote the Visit Malaysia Year 2007, was also present.
The programme began with an overture by Malaysia’s number one singer, Datuk Siti Nurhaliza Taruddin, who was accompanied by dancers from Istana Budaya, the Temple of Fine Arts and Dua Space Dance Theatre.
Other artistes performing at the function included Mawi, Haziq AF4, Banumitha, Andre Goh and Edrie Nazrin. They were accompanied by the Malaysia’s National Symphony Orchestra from Istana Budaya.
