Italy denies banning its citizen from visiting Bali
February 20th, 2007

Italian Ambassador to Indonesia Francesco M. Greco on Tuesday denied an allegation that his country has banned its citizens from visiting theworld-renowned tourist island of Bali in the wake of 2002 and 2005 bombings.

“The Italian government has never issued a ban to its citizens to visitBali in the wake of the bomb blasts,” he said after a meeting with Bali Governor Dewa Beratha.

Gresco said both the Italian government and people did not reactexcessively to the October 2002 bomb blast because such a terrorist attack could happen anywhere and was unpredictable.

“Our citizens were not affected (by the bomb blasts) and continue to visit Bali,” he said.
