Garuda Indonesia is fighting the ongoing slump in the number of Australia visitors to Bali. The airline has launched free kids’ airfares to Bali.
The offer is valid for travel from June 15 to July 31, and is open to each child, aged between two and 12 years travelling with an adult. Only government taxes and airline surcharges will apply.
The Garuda promotion is for flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. Australian arrivals in Bali for April (11,373) were down 45.7 per cent from one year before.
In another blow to the destination, Bali specialist San Michele Travel this week announced it would quit wholesale operations to concentrate on its retail business.
MD Ian Norris blamed the move on the collapse of Bali’s Air Paradise, the Bali bombings, government travel advisories and the Michelle Corby drug case.
