After moving to Bali next year, the Tourism Indonesia Mart & Expo will return to this year’s host city, Makassar, in 2008.
Meity Roby, chairman Steering Committee, TIME, said that provinces are now choosing to showcase at this show over their own provincial shows.
She added that more provinces are vying to host TIME but they are only chosen when they can prove their financial capability. For example, Makassar was chosen because of the financial commitment of the local government and private stakeholders.
“This is a show for private companies and the local government, we are not representing the central government. People often have this misconception,” she said.
By 2008, Makassar would have a new toll-road linking the airport to the city. More hotels are being added. For example, a Santika Hotel Makassar will open by end of this year.
